Garment Care Guide
Because we want your new piece to last you years to come
& because we have no control over what chemicals are used in everyday products, perfumes, make up, facial cleaners, make up removers, body lotions, body sprays, deodorant, detergents, hair spray/products and cleaning products..The list goes on!
We have put together a list of things you can do to make your clothes last
-Always follow washing instructions inside your garment
-Always hand wash reasonably quickly (5-10mins) in cold water
-Make sure the detergent is fully dissolved before submerging your garment. Direct contact with any detergent can bleach fabric or weaken fibres
-Always thoroughly rinse your garment after washing to remove any detergent residue
-NEVER soak your garment
-Immediately line dry after gently squeezing out excess water
-Dry your gorgeous garment in the shade, our sun is pretty powerful in NZ and we don’t want her to fade or discolour your clothes
-Don’t use pegs! These guys can leave some nasty marks on delicate or thick fabrics. Where possible hang your item on or over a hanger (non clip)
-If drying flat, do on an airing rack where air can still circulate through the garment
-Excess rubbing will cause fading on screen prints and when spot cleaning a mark
-Extra care is needed with delicate or sequined fabrics
-If you have a stain or mark you want to try and remove, we recommend leaving it to the experts and taking it to your local drycleaner for advice
-The dryer will shrink your fabric; don’t do it!
-Make sure your deodorant, lotions and sprays are completely dry before getting dressed
-Never spray perfume (or anything) directly on clothing or jewellery
-And finally don’t lend your size 8 clothes to your size 12 friend : ) this will cause stress on the seams and in return may pull
All our fabrics are purchased in NZ through reputable supplier. KILT will always stand behind manufacturing faults but we cannot be held responsible for any other damage to fabric.
Enjoy!
